I’ve been the first marketer at two companies now worth over $2 billion. If I did it again, here’s 9 things I’d do differently: 1️⃣ Start with brand as a scalable system Build a modular design system early with components you can combine instead of create. A Figma system, Canva templates, Google Slide layouts. Pair that with a messaging doc, your "copy-paste" bank of positioning, beliefs, and product language. It becomes a foundation for consistency and a knowledge base for AI. 2️⃣ Prioritize the 95%, not just the 5% LinkedIn & search ads worked early, but only because we caught the 5% already in market. The "demand capture" pool dries up fast. Invest early in "demand creation." Reach the 95% who aren’t ready yet, but will be. 3️⃣ Build in public People trust people more than companies. Let internal voices share what they’re building and learning. In the AI era, content is easy. Opinion & stories are valuable. 4️⃣ Know your customer so well the strategy writes itself I used to sit on every sales call and write every piece of copy. That proximity helped me hear what customers cared about, what words they used, where they hung out. Be close enough to "hear the music," and messaging & growth channels become obvious. 5️⃣ Start community early Create spaces where early customers can connect: Slack, Reddit, meetups, certification. It fuels your roadmap and scales support when customers can help each other. Even better if it creates user-generated content that is indexable/shareable. 6️⃣ Create the problem Don’t build the whole funnel on day one. If you don’t have traffic, don’t worry about conversion. Solve the problem you actually have. Let the next one emerge or you'll be building and rebuilding as things inevitably change. 7️⃣ Look bigger than you are Design clean & consistent. Logo small (bigger companies don't oversize their logo). Feature your biggest customers, your compliance certifications. Use big company channels but use them small (buy one billboard, get one great PR story, speak on one well-known podcast). Make big company content but do it small (like a single high production video). 8️⃣ Build lightweight systems You don’t need full-blown infrastructure. A Notion board or copy-paste doc can carry you farther than you think. Build systems for speed, not scale. 9️⃣ Protect your focus Get used to working with an infinite backlog. I used to start each day with a sticky note on my laptop of my 3 to 5 most important tasks. You weren’t hired to do everything, you were hired to make impact. If you've done this - what would you add?

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝘀 𝗮 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗼. If customers love your product but still cancel, the problem isn’t the product—it’s the experience. The best wellness brands don’t just sell products. They guide behaviours, reinforce habits, and remove friction. But too often, small moments of friction— a failed payment, a forgotten renewal, a skipped order— quietly push customers away before they even realize it. That’s why I put this table together. 7 high-impact automations that keep subscribers engaged, reduce churn, and make retention effortless. Each one removes a key retention blocker before it turns into lost revenue. 1️⃣ 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 → 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 ↳ Trigger: Payment fails (Recharge) ↳ Action: SMS + Email with urgency & FOMO ↳ Apps: SMSBump, Klaviyo → Catch failed payments before they cancel 2️⃣ 𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹𝘀 → 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 ↳ Trigger: Renewal approaching (Recharge) ↳ Action: Email & SMS reinforcing product value ↳ Apps: Klaviyo, PostPilot → Remind customers why they subscribed 3️⃣ 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 → 𝗥𝗲-𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 ↳ Trigger: Skipped orders, no logins, inactivity (CustomerHub) ↳ Action: ‘Reignite Your Routine’ email series ↳ Apps: Klaviyo → Help them stay on track before they forget 4️⃣ 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝘀 → 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲 ↳ Trigger: Customer clicks “Cancel” (Recharge) ↳ Action: “Pause instead of cancel” + Exclusive offer ↳ Apps: Klaviyo, RetentionEngine → Give them a reason to stay 5️⃣ 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 → 𝗢𝗻𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ↳ Trigger: First order shipped (Recharge) ↳ Action: Educational onboarding sequence ↳ Apps: Klaviyo, Postscript → Guide them to get the best results 6️⃣ 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 → 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 ↳ Trigger: 3rd, 6th, or 12th order milestone (LoyaltyLion) ↳ Action: Reward with a discount, gift, or VIP perks ↳ Apps: Smile.io, Klaviyo → Keep them engaged before they churn 7️⃣ 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗟𝗧𝗩 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 → ‘𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 & 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁’ ↳ Trigger: Customer hits LTV threshold (Klaviyo) ↳ Action: Personalized gift or early access invite ↳ Apps: PostPilot, LoyaltyLion → Turn subscribers into superfans Subscriptions Should Feel Effortless. A market map with 10,000 companies is impossible to prioritize. These are the 300 to know. I was a VP of Product in sales tech. And I was frustrated with the maps I found. So I've been studying the space and speaking with experts. Here's the players you need to know: — ONE - Core: Revenue Operating System This is your CRM, your system of record - where your sales operation begins. I break this into 3 segments: Enterprise Platforms → Built for large organizations with complex workflows and high-volume deals → Salesforce, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP Growth-Stage Solutions → Designed for growing businesses that need scalable tools but with flexibility to adapt → HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, SugarCRM Modern CRMs → Startups and fast-scaling companies looking to move fast without rigid systems rely on modern CRMs. → Attio, Affinity, Close.io, Copper, Freshsales. — LAYER TWO - Engagement & Intelligence These tools power outbound outreach, automate sequences, and provide real-time data on prospects: → Outreach, Salesloft, VanillaSoft, Groove Engagement tools ensure your team hits the right prospect at the right time. — LAYER THREE - Revenue Acceleration These platforms shorten deal cycles: → Gong, Salesloft, Chorus.ai, Ebsta With real-time feedback and actionable insights... — LAYER FOUR - Data & Enrichment Your outreach is only as good as the data backing it. These platforms ensure you’re reaching out to right prospects. → ZoomInfo, Apollo.io, Clearbit, Lusha, Hunter io, Cognism — SATELLITE CLUSTERS - Modern GTM Stack These tools enhance parts of the GTM journey. AI-Enhanced Tools → Automate and personalize content creation at scale. → Writer, Grammarly, CopyAI, Jasper Product-Led Motion → Identify sales-ready leads through product engagement. → Pocus, Intercom, Breyta Sales Enablement → Equip sales teams with training, resources, and playbooks to perform at their best. → Seismic, Spekit, Allego Conversational GTM → Convert prospects directly through real-time chat. → Drift (now part of Salesloft) — SATELLITE CLUSTERS- Emerging Categories These are adjacent categories sales teams often still use. Product Analytics → Track user behaviors post-sale for better upsell and retention opportunities. → Amplitude, Mixpanel Customer Success → Ensure long-term customer retention and success beyond the initial sale. → Gainsight, Catalyst, Totango Workspace Integration → Enable seamless collaboration across sales and operations. → Notion, Slack, Airtable, monday.com Revenue Orchestration → Connect workflows across different systems to streamline revenue operations. → NektarAI, Tray.io, Workato, Boomi — This took a lot of time. Reshare ♻️ if you loved this post. What tools would you add?

Email still delivers strong ROI. What’s changed is how leading teams are using it. Here are 7 modern and practical email strategies you can use now and into 2026. 📩 1. AI-Driven Decisioning An example is “next best offer.” Use real-time, historical, and behavioral data to determine the most relevant content, offer, or CTA. Instead of sending the same message to everyone, tools like Movable Ink personalize content based on what users have or haven’t done. 📈 2. Product-Led Lifecycle Messaging Trigger emails based on what users do inside your product. If someone signs up but doesn’t activate, send a reminder. If they complete onboarding but skip a key feature, follow up. Email becomes part of the product experience. 🧱 3. Modular Templates + Guard Rails Stop building emails from scratch. Modular templates let teams assemble emails using approved, no-code blocks. Platforms like Knak help you move faster while staying on brand and rendering correctly across devices. 👁️🗨️ 4. Inbox Retargeting & Re-engagement If someone opens and scrolls but doesn’t click, you can adjust the next email. These behavioral signals help guide follow-ups. A scrolled-but-no-click email may call for a stronger CTA or tighter copy. 🧪 5. Automated Experimentation Go beyond A/B tests. Today’s tools can test dozens or even hundreds of variations at once, subject lines, images, layouts, and more. Platforms like OfferFit by Braze optimize automatically to drive better performance. ⏱ 6. Real-Time Triggers Send the right message the moment someone takes action, like signing up or abandoning a cart. It only works if your data flows smoothly and your systems are well-integrated, but the results are worth the effort. 💰 7. Revenue-Based Measurement Connect email to pipeline and revenue. If your data and attribution are in place, you can measure how nurture programs or product launches actually impact the business. Which do you think is most effective? What would you add? We grew an email list from 0 to 500K subscribers in just 10 months. If I were starting from scratch today, here's exactly how I'd do it again: 1) Nail the Lead Magnet: The fastest way to grow your email list is by offering something valuable in exchange for an email. Think of it like this: people won't give up their email for nothing. Create something they can't ignore: a discount, exclusive content, or a tool they can’t find elsewhere. For us, offering free travel guides was a game-changer. 2) Optimize for Opt-Ins Everywhere: Your website, blog, and even social media accounts should work like opt-in machines. For example: - Add pop-ups and fly outs on key pages. - Place CTAs above the fold. - Use scroll-triggered modals when visitors are engaged. We tested endlessly, and this attention to detail paid off big. 3) Tap Into Paid Growth Early: Ads get a bad rep, but when done right, they’re a growth accelerant. We launched targeted ads promoting our lead magnet and built a funnel that turned traffic into email signups. Paid campaigns helped us scale fast while testing which offers resonated with our audience. 4) Partner with the Right People: Collaborations can grow your list faster than any single effort. Whether it’s co-branded giveaways, email swaps, or shoutouts, find brands or creators that share your target audience. A well-executed partnership will unlock exponential growth. One really unique thing we did: We bought a bunch of viral social accounts and rebranded them for our business. This was huge in kickstarting massive and sustainable growth. And we fast-tracked the social proof we needed to build trust and scale quickly. 5) Focus on Quality, Not Just Quantity: A big list is meaningless without engagement. From Day 1, we focused on high-value emails to ensure subscribers opened, clicked, and stayed. Here’s a pro tip: Consistency wins. Sending emails weekly or bi-weekly keeps your list warm and engaged. 6) Build a Content Machine: Pair email growth with an organic content strategy that feeds your funnel. Blog posts, social media, and SEO aren’t just good for traffic—they create trust. The more valuable content you share, the more people will want to hear from you. 7) Leverage Cheap Marketing Channels in Ways Others Haven’t: This is going to ruffle some feathers but we absolutely dominated cold email for user acquisition. To the tune of 6 figure subscriber acquisition. No one was doing cold email for B2C the way we did it. This proved to be the most scalable yet cheapest acquisition channel we had. — To recap: - Offer something valuable for free to grow your list. - Use every channel—paid and organic—to drive opt-ins. - Build relationships with partners who already have your audience. The result? A system that scales. Your list is the one asset you fully own—start building it ASAP!

I’ve talked to 4-5 SDR Leaders that have gotten their email domains TORCHED in the last 2 months. Here’s the thing all outbound teams need to understand about deliverability: Email deliverability is a “death by a thousands paper cuts” type of situation. Stop stacking paper cuts and do these 9 things: 1️⃣ Set up secondary domains If you are still cold emailing off your primary email domain you may be in big trouble. This is crucial. Using something like Maildoso makes getting these domains and the whole technical setup super fast... more on that below. The last thing you want, especially if you DONT have a reputable domain like Salesforce(.)com is to burn your orgs primary domain. This doesn’t just affect your sales team. You don’t need your CSMS and CEO landing in SPAM. 2️⃣ Set up your DNS (DMARC, SPF & DKIM) records for ALL of your domains To skip the manual DNS headache... Maildoso automates this setup. I just set up 2 new domains in literally 1 minute with them last week. Right now we can only set up 2 mailboxes per rep in Outreach. Going to be adding a Smartlead integration soon in Common Room to run higher volume experiments based on various intent signals and double down on the ones that work with human SDRs. 3️⃣ Secondary domains should link to your primary You want to make sure your prospects are being directed to your actual company domain if they are curious and click. 4️⃣ Email Warmup - Domains should be “warmed up” for ~14 days before cold emailing Send at least 20-30 warm up emails per day per email account, with a 40% reply rate. This builds your domain reputation. 5️⃣ Email Volume - Build this over time. Start with 5-10 emails a day per account and do NOT send more than 30 emails per day per email account 6️⃣ Keep your email signature plain text. No Links. No images. No calendar links…at all Add your address in your signature and make sure you put a picture in your Outlook or Gmail profile. 7️⃣ Vary your cold email copy (i.e. SPINTAX). Sending the same template to every prospect signals that you are a spammer. Customize your first step email. For emails further in your sequence, use Spintax. Use alternate phrases “Hi, Hey, Hello”. New age sequencers do this automatically. 8️⃣ Understand that your domain gets TORCHED when people mark your email as spam. Good and relevant copy matter. 9️⃣ Constantly monitor your email deliverability. Deliverability varies across Outlook and Google servers. Get a platform that helps you land in ALL inboxes. Again, Maildoso makes this super easy... they have daily reputation monitoring built right in so you catch issues fast. They average 98%+ inbox placement - wild. Maintaining good deliverability over time is key in the success of outbound. What would the email deliverability experts add here? #outbound #coldemail #deliverability

Your best strategist spent yesterday afternoon resetting broken mailboxes instead of building campaigns. That’s the hidden cost of scaling outbound that nobody talks about. The more clients you take on, the more your best people end up doing technical cleanup work instead of strategy. Fixing inboxes. Rebuilding domains. Checking deliverability. Resetting what should already just work. I got tired of watching high-value hours disappear into backend maintenance. So I moved the whole setup behind Claude + Maildoso MCP. Now I just describe what I want, and the system executes it. 1. Set up the infrastructure Maildoso creates cold email domains and inboxes. SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are handled automatically. Your main domain stays safe. 2. Connect it to Claude Add your API key. Plug Maildoso MCP into Claude Desktop. Now Claude can directly run your email infrastructure. 3. Tell Claude what to build Example: “Create 5 domains, set up 3 inboxes per domain, add a reply forwarding inbox, and check deliverability so only healthy inboxes are used.” Claude runs the setup through the API. The real win is monitoring. Maildoso keeps checking inbox health every few days and pauses bad ones before they hurt your campaigns. So your team stops babysitting infrastructure. And goes back to doing actual strategy and campaigns. If your team is still manually managing inboxes, you’re burning your best talent on the wrong work. Over to you: where does outbound usually break for you, data quality or sending infrastructure? #Outbound #ColdEmail #SalesAutomation #Deliverability #AItools

Just like school group projects, one weak link can tank privacy compliance. That vendor you trusted last year? They might be cutting corners today. They may have launched new features, swapped sub-processors, or started using your data to train their AI. And if you’re not paying attention, those changes could expose you to fines, data misuse, or public backlash. Managing this risk is why various privacy regulations require companies to have contracts that spell out how vendors process personal information. And regulators will hold you accountable if they don’t. Regulators are asking companies what diligence did you do on a vendor? They also might ask to see the vendor assessment performed (showing your homework is important here). That's why regular, thorough, yet practical vendor assessments are essential. They are also not a one-and-done exercise because key changes in the vendor or the business use cases can be missed. When done properly and regularly, a vendor assessment will: ✔ Be rightsized to the type of data being shared and the risk to the business. ✔ Identify gaps in a vendor’s ability to meet legal obligations ✔ Evaluate technical and organizational safeguards ✔ Confirm whether vendors support privacy rights (e.g., deletion, access) ✔ Flag vendors with histories of noncompliance or security incidents ✔ Ensure you have a DPA in place with clear responsibilities and breach notification terms The assessment should also cover how the vendor is using your business data. Such as is your data also being used for the vendor's purposes? AI takes risk to a new level. In fact, a great way to get attention to do vendor assessments is piggybacking on AI projects (everyone seems to care about AI these days!) Fun reminder: AI risk can pop up in existing vendors who roll out new features. It's why vendor assessments are not optional. Reviewing new and existing vendors is how you protect your data, meet legal requirements, and avoid costly surprises. Read our recent blog to learn how to build effective vendor assessments (link in comments) ♻ Share our carousel to help other companies strengthen their vendor assessment programs. 👇
