Website traffic was a valuable metric correlated to growth. Now it may be a vanity metric, not correlated to growth. Search has been disrupted. Visits to your website are declining. So, marketers - what now? The search landscape was already shifting (I talked about this at INBOUND last year). Now, the change is accelerating dramatically: - AI Overviews appear in 43% of Google searches – when they do, organic CTR drops by nearly 35%. - Google’s AI Mode and audio AI overviews are coming – they will cause clicks to collapse further. - More buyers are using LLMs to find information, ChatGPT search in Europe grew 3.7x in six months. So, what should marketers do? And how can AI help? 1. Be everywhere and diversify your channels The days of relying solely on Google search are way over. You need to show up on YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, podcasts, and in niche communities. The good news? AI makes multi-channel, multi-format content creation scalable – even for small teams. 2. Be specific with context In the past, broad informational content was the way to rank in Google. Today, buyers expect results deeply relevant to them, whether they’re on Google, LLMs, or Reddit. You need specific content that reflects your expertise and resonates with your buyers. 3. Optimize for conversion, not clicks Traffic was once the lever you could pull. Now, conversion is where the opportunity lies. AI enables you to deliver personal messages that drive better conversion. Don’t ask, “How do we get more blog visits?” Ask, “How do we convert more prospects into customers across all channels?” The changes in search are sending shockwaves across marketing teams and media companies everywhere. The era of traffic-based marketing is ending. But a new era full of opportunity is just beginning. Super exciting times for marketers to reinvent the playbook!

>> 𝗔𝗜’𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗪𝗦 re:Invent 2025 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 I joined Amazon Web Services (AWS) re:Invent 2025 in Las Vegas. Here’s the quiet truth most people missed 👇 The National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), Formula 1, PGA TOUR, and the Bundesliga International GmbH are already building the AI blueprint every business will copy next. Across every stage, demo, and interview, one pattern was impossible to ignore: AI isn’t just helping athletes win. It’s rewriting decision making, performance, and personalization. And business leaders should be paying very close attention. 🏀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗕𝗔: 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 The NBA unveiled Gravity, an AI metric tracking 29 data points at 60 frames per second to measure how much attention a player draws even without the ball. Invisible influence becomes measurable insight. Business lesson: The biggest drivers of outcomes are often the ones you are not tracking yet. 🏎️ 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝟭: 𝟭.𝟯% 𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 AWS simulations helped redesign F1 cars to reduce downforce loss from 50% to 15%, enabling closer racing. As Ruth Buscombe put it: 1.3% separates champions from last place. Business lesson: Micro advantages compound. Precision beats scale. 🏈 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗙𝗟: 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 The NFL’s Next Gen Stats processes 500M+ data points per season, powering real time predictions and reinventing plays like kickoffs. Business lesson: Stop using data to explain yesterday. Start using it to shape the next move. ⛳ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗚𝗔 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥: 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 One swing creates 70 million data points. But as Ken Lovell explained, value only appears when data makes people feel something. Business lesson: Numbers alone do not persuade. Stories do. ⚽ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮: 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 Luccas Roznowicz explained the Bundesliga’s Data Story Finder adapts commentary and emotional tone in real time, based on why fans care. Business lesson: AI doesn’t just scale content. It scales understanding. 📘 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 Across leagues, the next era of enterprise AI is already visible: • Personalization at scale • Real time beats size • Agentic AI that acts within guardrails • Data only matters when it connects emotionally Sports are showing what’s next. AI doesn’t replace people. It sharpens instincts, accelerates feedback, and transforms experience. If stadiums are the new AI labs, the question for leaders is simple 👇 Are you watching the game or playing it? ---- 👉 Love my content? ☑ Follow me on LinkedIn: https://lnkd.in/gjUQk7HF 👉 Found this helpful? AI agents aren’t just assistants. They’re collaborators with intent. In the past few years, we’ve seen incredible progress in AI models. But models alone don’t drive business outcomes. Increasingly, it’s agents- systems that can observe, reason, and take action that are making the difference. One exciting development is the rise of vertical AI agents- agents purpose-built for specific domains like marketing, legal, or sales. Why is this important ⁉️ Most enterprise tasks require more than text generation. They require: → Accessing internal tools and data → Following domain-specific workflows → Taking goal-oriented actions → Learning from feedback Agents make this possible. They move beyond simple chat interfaces to systems that can: ✅ Retrieve and analyze data (brand guides, campaign history, customer profiles) ✅ Interact with tools (CRM, CMS, ad platforms) ✅ Execute workflows (launch campaigns, generate creative, optimize strategy) ✅ Continuously improve through feedback loops In marketing and creative domains, this is already happening. The integration of AI agents throughout Adobe Experience Platform Agent Orchestrator is a strong example: → Agents help web teams improve site performance → They assist creative teams in scaling on-brand content → They support audience managers and data analysts in driving insights As we adopt AI agents, it’s important to think carefully about how we evaluate them. Not just on model accuracy, but on their ability to achieve outcomes: → Goal completion → Brand and policy alignment → Latency and responsiveness → Business impact I believe we’re only scratching the surface. Old School vs. New School sales teams. With 15M+ B2B sales teams globally, we're seeing a shift. Old school: - Simple team structure: AEs and more SDRs - Overpaying for outdated tools - Great sales fundamentals New school: - Often have RevOps or GTM engineers - Consistently testing out new tools - Obsess on process Here's are the tech stack changes I'm seeing: - CRM: Salesforce → HubSpot (don't need a CRM admin to make changes) - TAM Sourcing: ZoomInfo → DiscoLike (find any company with a website) - Data Handling: Excel → Clay (AI spreadsheet linked to data sources) - Global Email Coverage: Apollo → Findymail (better coverage + accuracy + price) - Global Phone Coverage: Cognism → BetterContact (best-in-class coverage + connect rates) - Email Campaigns: Mail Merge → Instantly.ai (where do I even start) - DM Campaigns: Sales Nav → HeyReach.io (automating signal-based plays) - Micro Campaigns: Mailchimp → Landbase (AI-first at every step) - Dialer: RingCentral → Trellus (YC W22) (purpose-built sales dialer) - Call Recording: Manual Notes → Modjo (AI notetakers are a must-have in 2025) Give an old school team new school systems. That's a force to be reckoned with.

This week’s Spotlight is: The CMO’s AI Mandate The marketing buyer has fundamentally changed. CMOs are reallocating budgets to AI-native solutions, pushing agencies to run on AI, building in-house agents, and upskilling their teams. The function gets rebuilt around AI. To pressure-test what we're seeing, Mayfield surveyed 50+ CMOs on how AI is reshaping the marketing org. Key data: - 72% of CMOs are actively reallocating budget to AI-native solutions - 53% are increasing their overall marketing budget in 2026 - 74% want AI to own demand generation end-to-end - 96% of CMOs said productivity and output gains are the only things that will make them switch For founders building for CMOs - move now: budget is shifting, and the window is open. You can find the full Mayfield CMO survey results and founder playbook in my latest newsletter here - https://lnkd.in/g6p7zqtn This week, the enterprise AI market kept moving toward the same playbook CMOs are demanding: own the workflow, not just a step in it. OpenAI launched the OpenAI Deployment Company to embed AI directly into customer operations, Microsoft expanded Copilot Studio with agent governance and intelligent workflows, and Anthropic launched Claude for Small Business with connectors and ready-to-run workflows. The winning products will integrate with existing systems, earn trust, and deliver measurable productivity gains. Full Weekend Edition below. 👇

CEO: Our campaigns aren’t scaling we need better ads. Me: Maybe! But the issue could come from any of these 4 layers too. Yes, it might be poor execution weak content, wrong format, bad targeting. Or maybe your funnel’s off. Or the offer just isn’t resonating. Or honestly… you never nailed your audience in the first place. Let’s be real: Performance issues usually start deeper than performance. Because here’s the thing: You can’t optimize your way out of a broken marketing foundation. - No A/B test will fix an irrelevant offer. - No ad creative will work without positioning clarity. - No automation will convert if your audience isn’t understood. CEO: So what should we actually do to grow? Me: Step back. Run your stack like a full-stack marketer: 1. Start with market insight: Who exactly are you marketing to? What do they struggle with? AI helps marketers listen smarter and synthesize faster. 2. Define the offer + funnel strategy: What’s your promise? Where are you leading them and why should they care? AI gives you faster, deeper strategic drafts and feedback loops. 3. Launch real assets that match the funnel: From SEO to reels to landing pages build what supports your journey. AI is your creative co-pilot here... fast, scalable, multi-format. 4. THEN optimize: Track, test, and scale what works. AI spots what’s working (or not) faster than manual dashboards. You don’t need a “5th layer” for AI. AI is the electricity that powers every layer. Because stacking tools ≠ marketing. Full-stack strategy is what drives real growth. Want to build like a full-stack marketer? → Start deep. Don’t just fix the copy. Fix the stack. ♻️ Repost it to share with your network. AI will handle complex, 4-hour workflows by 2026 — and that's when today's marketing automation will become irrelevant. This chart from METR shows AI's exponential growth in capability. The length of tasks AI can complete at 50% success is doubling every 7 months. That's faster than Moore's Law! GPT-2 could barely answer a question. Sonnet 3.7 can write entire applications. And it's just getting better, faster, cheaper. And that changes everything. MARKETING AUTOMATION STOCKHOLM SYNDROME Ever since since I cofounded Marketo, we've been prisoners of our own creation. Traditional MAPs were built for a different era, when "automation" meant scheduling emails and scoring leads. Today: Buyers stay anonymous until 70% through their journey 80% of B2B buyers choose their preferred vendor before ever talking to sales 95% of your market isn't actively buying (the 95:5 rule) Yet we're still: 1️⃣ Gating content behind forms 2️⃣ Scoring individual leads (not buying groups) 3️⃣ Running the same nurture tracks we built in 2015 The tools haven't kept pace. But AI's exponential growth means we don't need to wait for them to catch up. THE 7-MONTH REVOLUTION With AI handling increasingly complex tasks, the B2B playbook will get rewritten. Account Intelligence at Scale AI can map entire buying groups, track engagement across 20+ touchpoints, and identify when accounts move in and out of market. Orchestration > Automation Forget rigid if/then workflows. AI orchestrates dynamic journeys — adjusting messages, channels, and timing based on actual behavior patterns. Personalized Experiences (Not Just Messages) Think Netflix recommendations, not mail merge. AI determines the right offer, content path, or product configuration for each account's specific context. The End of "Batch and Blast" True 1:1 marketing at scale. Every email send optimized for each recipient. Every subject line tested across micro-segments. Every CTA dynamically selected. What took a team of 10 specialists now happens automatically. WHERE THIS IS GOING By 2027, marketing platforms won't look anything like today's MAPs. Instead of 47 disconnected tools in your stack, you'll have AI orchestration layers that: — Connect and activate all your data sources — Generate hypotheses and test them autonomously — Optimize across your entire funnel simultaneously Marketing ops teams will shift from pushing buttons in MAPs to building data pipelines and ensuring guidelines and guardrails work at scale. THE HARD TRUTH Legacy MAPs are already obsolete. They just don't know it yet. Companies clinging to traditional automation will compete against teams operating at AI velocity. That's not a gap you can close with better campaigns or more budget. The 7-month doubling rate means the gap widens exponentially. In 36 months, the difference between AI-native and traditional marketing won't be 10x. I'll be 100x. #B2BMarketing #MarketingAutomation #AIinMarketing #MarTech #RevenueMarketing
