Delphi Greek: Δελφοί formerly also called Pytho (Πυθώ), is famous as the ancient sanctuary that grew rich as the seat of Pythia, the oracle who was consulted about important decisions throughout the ancient classical world. The ancient Greeks considered the centre of the world to be in Delphi, marked by the stone monument known as the omphalos (navel).
It occupies an impressive site on the south-western slope of Mount Parnassus, overlooking the coastal plain to the south and the valley of Phocis. It is now an extensive archaeological site with a small modern town of the same name nearby. It is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in having had a phenomenal influence in the ancient world, as evidenced by the rich monuments built there by most of the important ancient Greek city-states, demonstrating their fundamental Hellenic unity.

Καλλίτερη περιγραφή, από αυτή ενός "παλιού" μπλε οδηγού, δεν θα βρίσκαμε προκειμένου να μιλήσουμε για τους Δελφούς. Ευκαιρία μας έδωσαν 4 επισκέπτες από το Bangladesh. Γρήγορα καλύψαμε την επικοινωνιακή απόσταση Αθήνα - Ντάκα (είναι η πρωτεύουσα), γινήκαμε ένα σώμα - ανάθημα - πνεύμα - και βρεθήκαμε μέσα σε λίγες ώρες κοντά στο ναό του Πυθίου Απόλλωνα!
"Το κέντρο αυτό του αρχαίου ελληνικού πνεύματος είναι ένα από τα πιο εντυπωσιακά μέρη που θα συναντήσετε ποτέ, όπου κι αν ταξιδέψτε. Καθώς τον πρωτοβλέπετε από το δρόμο της Αράχοβας, γαντζωμένο στην πλαγιά του Παρνασσού, από τα πιο επιβλητικά βουνά της Ελλάδας, ο ναός του Απόλλωνα δίνει ταυτόχρονα το μέτρο της αδυναμίας του Ανθρώπου αλλά και το μεγαλείο του. Χώρος εκλεκτός, οι Δελφοί είχαν επιλεγεί από το Συμβούλιο της Ευρώπης για να εγκατασταθεί εκεί το Ευρωπαϊκό Πνευματικό Κέντρο, έδρα συμβουλίων και συγκεντρώσεων φιλοσοφικών ή πολιτικών".
