Kitty Condo Update

LC: First, to answer some comments, we are not really so happy about the "50 LBS catnip toy" lately. It doesn't smell like much of anything and we told The Big Thing so. We just included it as a formerly favorite toy and as a chance to tell him we wanted it fixed. He even sniffed it himself! He agreed it needed new catnip. He says he is going to disembowel it, stuff new catnip in it, and heal the wound so we can have it back like new! Ooh, that will be great. I just wanted to mention that.

Second, The Big Thing has been paying attention to the Kitty Condo, but he seems confoosed. He says trying to figure out how to cover the resting platforms with carpet is tricksier than he thought. Anyway he looks at it, there are topses or fronts that are awkward. I don't unnerstand the problem, but that is why he is in charge of the tricksey heavy things. He seems annoyed by edges and "seams".

Hey, seems and seams; I made a funny!

Still, I don't care if he just drapes carpet over the boxes; I'll snuggle into them. But he cares and I can't make him not care. So we have to wait! Grr...

Well, the Kitty Condo will maybe be even nicer if we wait til he solves whatever problem is annoying him. It's not like we can take over and built it ourselves. Skeeter and I have nosed and pawed at the big tools and we can't get them to do anything. He lifts them and squeezes places, an we can't do either of those things!

He stayed in the basement of the cave with the tools and boxes for all morning. I think he is just being too fussy about it. I told him that is is like chasing squirrels; you might not catch them, but you have to give it a try and hope for the best! He actually seemed rather relieved about that and thought it was good advice.

Big Things are kinda stoopid sometimes and depend on us kitties to give them good advice. Skeeter and I do what we can for ours, but sometimes he doesn't want to hear what we tell him. The specific question I asked him was "Who are you making this thing for, you or us"? That made him think (in whatever way Big Things think). I think I got through to his weak brain on that. He admitted that he should "just do it" and see what happens.

Slow, slow, slow, but they eventually catch on. Our work is never done around here... Training a Big Thing is a never-ending effort!

Battle for the Chair

Skeeter: The Big Thing likes to watch the sparkly box when he is tired of making sure the cave is kept the way we like it. Sometimes he eats his food watching it. When he does that, he sits of the edge of the chair and he has no lap. But when he sits back in the chair, he makes a certain noise that I recognize from anywhere in the cave and I come running. I like sitting on his lap while he scratches me until I fall asleep.

But he has to get up sometimes. He says his legs get stiff. So, lately, when he gets up, I hop back up on the chair. It is really warm where he has been sitting, and I like that a lot, too. Sometimes he comes back real quick, though, and he wants to sit again. I don't feel like giving him the chair again. But he snaps his paws and I usually get up grumbling and wait til he sits down before hopping up on his lap again.

Well guess what? Yesterday, I didn't feel like moving. I mean, I was real warm and cozy. And he had been twitchy all night, which kept disturbing my lap-nap. So I decided NOT to move. Let him snap his paws all he wants!

Well, after a few licks of time, he laughed and said, "Skeeter, I'm going to sit there". I still didn't move (I pretended to be asleep and not hear him). He decided to nudge me awake to move, but I ignored him. He laughed again and said "Skeeter, you ARE going to move", and he lifted me up onto my feet. HA-HA, I just stayed limp and collapsed back onto the warm spot. He tried that two more times.

He picked me up AGAIN, but this time he carried me to ANOTHER (unwarmed) CHAIR, and then sat down in my warmed spot! I couldn't believe it! How dare he do that!

I gave him my hardest glare. That didn't work at all, and some mousies have just fallen over and fainted when I gave them THAT look! I was quite surprised. Then he made a lap and invited me back over.

I am so weak... I held out for only a little bit and then went and hopped up on his lap again. I fell right asleep on his warm lap while he scratched me behind my ears.

At least he didn't keep shifting positions slightly that time; we both fell asleep.

PURRRRR...
